Évry is not a district of Paris. It is a planned new town about thirty kilometres south of the city, built from the 1960s onwards around a cathedral, a shopping centre and a university, and it belongs to the Paris-Saclay group rather than to any Parisian institution. The RER D runs into the Gare de Lyon in roughly forty minutes. That distance is the whole proposition: rents here are a fraction of inner Paris, and if your teaching is in Évry the saving is real, while if it is anywhere central you are buying a commute.
The centre around the Agora and the cathedral holds the university buildings, the shopping centre and most of the purpose-built student rooms, within a few minutes of teaching and the RER. Courcouronnes is the adjoining commune to the west, residential and a little cheaper, with the Canal and the hospital. Le Bras de Fer and Les Épinettes are new-town estates close in, among the least expensive rooms available anywhere in the Paris region. Bois Sauvage sits north east, quieter and greener. Ris-Orangis and Grigny are neighbouring communes on the same RER line, cheaper again. Corbeil-Essonnes is east across the Seine, an older town with a proper centre and its own station, which many people prefer to the new-town architecture.
Room types, what bills included really covers, when to book, and what to check if you are arriving from abroad.
Crous rooms and student residences around the centre keep Paris-Saclay teaching and the RER close. Independent studios provide privacy, while rooms in neighbouring communes may cost less but make the local bus connection part of every day.
Check the precise campus, station and walking route rather than relying on an Évry label. Furniture, utilities, guarantor conditions and eligibility for housing assistance can materially change the comparison.
MoJO currently lists 1 Évry student stays, with published prices from €770.1/month. Compare rent with charges, deposit, insurance and the travel needed for your course. A lower price away from Évry-Courcouronnes Centre may mean a less reliable connection to the RER.
Request the full address, surface area, inventory, contract dates and cancellation conditions in writing. Confirm whether the listing supports CAF assistance and what guarantor documentation is required before paying.
Évry's student population is anchored by Université d'Évry Paris-Saclay and Télécom SudParis. When choosing student accommodation in Évry, most students prioritise the walking-distance or single-transfer commute to their own department, since it saves 60 to 90 minutes a day on lectures, labs, and evening study.
On each Évry property page you will see the exact minute count to nearby universities and whether the campus is served by direct public transport. If you already know your university, filter by it before comparing rooms, it saves a lot of back and forth.
The best areas for student accommodation in Évry include Centre and the Agora, Courcouronnes, Le Bras de Fer and Les Épinettes, Bois Sauvage, and Ris-Orangis and Grigny. Each has a distinct mix of student housing, cafes, supermarkets, and public transport connections, so the "best" area really depends on which university you attend and what kind of neighbourhood you want to live in.
If you are new to Évry, aim for neighbourhoods with a high student population and good late-night public transport. Areas near your university's main campus are safest for evening walks home and mean you can lie in for 9 AM lectures.
The cost of student accommodation in Évry typically starts from €770.1/month, and rent is usually the single biggest line item in a student's budget. Beyond rent, students in Évry typically budget for groceries, public transport, mobile data, and social spending.
If Évry rents feel steep, it can be worth comparing with cities like Paris and Dublin: the same weekly budget often stretches further, and some France universities have satellite campuses across multiple cities.

The RER D is the line that matters: Évry-Courcouronnes Centre to Gare de Lyon takes about forty minutes, and the Navigo or Imagine R pass covers the whole of Île-de-France on one fare, so living out here costs you time rather than money. Local TICE buses connect the communes and the campus. Évry was designed around cars and separated pedestrian decks, which means walking distances are short but the routes are not always obvious, and cycling is easy on the flat with the Seine path running north. Orly airport is about twenty five minutes by road.
